In the best SSM2007 tradition, the STS-124 free add-on allows budding Virtual Astronauts to experience the launch, on-orbit mission including the deployment of the Kibo module, Space Walks and activities and return to Earth by manually landing the Discovery at the Kennedy Space Center. STS-124 concluded with a perfect landing at the Kennedy Space Center on June 14, 2008. The crew also included an Astronaut from the Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) - Mission Specialist Akihiko Hoshide. Fossum and Mission Specialist Air Force Col. The mission included three long and complex Space Walks, testing the stamina, patience and professionalism of the EVA team – Mission Specialist Air Force Reserve Col. Instead, the Astronauts used the one left on the ISS by the previous STS-123 mission.ĭuring this mission, the Discovery and ISS crews installed and performed initial activation of the Kibo module, and tested the Japanese Remote Manipulator System. Kibo's size prevented the installation of the OBSS boom (for thermal tiles inspection) in the Shuttle's cargo bay. It carried the Japanese ISS laboratory "Kibo". STS-124 is one of the busier ISS assembly mission. STS-124 started with an uneventful Discovery launch on commanded by Navy Cmdr. The next mission for Space Shuttle Mission 2007 is STS-124. PRESS RELEASE: Space Shuttle Mission 2007™ Next Mission Revealed It's a truly unique experience, and with more missions in development, nothing is the limit, seriously! You get immersed into the simulator, and then time just flies by. Space Shuttle Mission 2007 lets you experience how it feels to be in Space while sitting at your computer. That's what SSM brings to the playing field. why download add-ons, when you have one program itself that does all a mission needs, without adding on to anything? Is it just for the sake of not paying $50 for a 'computer game'? Most video games today cost that much, if you want quality and craftmanship. I still don't see how it compares to being IN the Shuttle and flipping switches as SSM simulates, but sure, you can fly to the Space Station Freedom and all that. Now, if you download add-ons to Orbiter, it's a unique game. You have to do all that yourself, and if you don't do it just right, you will re-enter the Earth's atmosphere. Then you get into orbit and hopelessly fall back to Earth. In Orbiter (WITHOUT ADDONS), all you do is push the + key, and the SRB's ignite, and you're flying. It truly simulates how a real launch is done.

You don't need to push the + key to launch, you have to go from T-1h 50m, and activate COMM, even the EVAP system. You follow instructions, and things go right. You need to use the thrusters to dock, and that's very coordinated if you know how to do it right (great tutorials on the official SSM forums). You follow it as if you were in the Shuttle itself, seriously.
